About The Position

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Health Information Management Director. This role is crucial in developing and implementing departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the organization's clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements. The Director will oversee departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives. Planning and monitoring staffing activities, preparing and managing departmental budgets, coordinating audits, and fostering an environment for professional growth are key aspects of this position. The Director ensures the department remains focused on its vital role in the continuum of care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred (Applicable work experience may be used in lieu of education)
  • RHIT or RHIA certifications
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Position serves both internal co-workers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Access to and/or works with sensitive and/or confidential information.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Skilled in the application of policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices.
  • Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensures quality standards.
  • Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
  • Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
  • Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
  • Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Ensures department stays focused on their important role in the continuum of care.
