Health Information Management Clerk
About The Position
Wellfound Behavioral Health Hospital is hiring a Temporary Health Information Management (HIM) Clerk to join their team. Wellfound is a 120-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital located in Tacoma, Washington, accredited by the Department of Health and Joint Commission. They provide acute care psychiatric services to both voluntary and involuntary patients. Their treatment approach emphasizes whole-person centered care that supports wellness and recovery, respecting and including everyone's unique values, strengths, and beliefs. They believe in a team approach to care, involving providers, nurses, mental health technicians, and therapy team members. The Health Information Management (HIM) Clerk will provide support to the Health Information Management (HIM) department. Responsibilities include reviewing, scanning, and updating medical record documents to ensure accuracy and completeness. The HIM Clerk must understand HIPAA privacy and security related to protected health information (PHI) and uphold confidentiality. This is a temporary position to support an ongoing project in the HIM department.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Administrative experience on an EMR system, preferably EPIC.
Responsibilities
- Performs chart reviews and audits of paper documents and scanned documents.
- Reviews and scans medical record documents into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Reviews and audits for missing documents.
- Ensures medical record documents are complete, of quality, and accurate, and assigns deficiencies as needed.
- Gathers and organizes medical records for retention and shredding.
- Maintains HIPAA compliance.
- Be able to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to work independently.
