About The Position

The Health Information Management Analyst is responsible for assembling and reviewing all inpatient, short stay surgery, rehab, and observation records for accuracy and completeness of documentation. This role ensures chart completion deficiencies are identified and assigned to the appropriate medical staff members for tracking and monitoring. The analyst will also be responsible for updating and clearing deficiencies, answering telephone calls, assisting visitors while maintaining confidentiality, and completing birth and fetal death certificates, providing necessary birth information to the state within the required timeframe. Additionally, the role may require performing HIM Tech duties as assigned and other duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education High School Diploma or GED required
  • 6 months HIM/Medical Records experience
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in Health Information Technology preferred
  • RHIT or RHIA eligible and Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes the medical record for chart completion deficiencies, in accordance with regulatory requirements and medical staff rules and regulations.
  • Ensures any deficiencies are assigned to the appropriate medical staff member and data is entered for tracking and monitoring purposes.
  • Reviews documentation and updates or clears the deficiencies as appropriate.
  • Responsible for answering telephone calls and assisting visitors (including but not limited to physicians, patients, and their family members), while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Completes birth and fetal death certificates.
  • Provides state with necessary birth information within state required timeframe, as needed.
  • Must perform HIM Tech duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
