Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED – Required

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months HIM/Medical Records experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in an acute care setting desired.
  • Associate’s degree in health information technology preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assembling and reviewing all inpatient, short stay surgery, rehab, and observation records for accuracy and completeness of documentation
  • Analyzes the medical record for chart completion deficiencies, in accordance with regulatory requirements and medical staff rules and regulations.
  • Ensures any deficiencies are assigned to the appropriate medical staff member and data is entered for tracking and monitoring purposes.
  • Reviews documentation and updates or clears the deficiencies as appropriate.
  • Answering telephone calls and assisting visitors (including but not limited to physicians, patients, and their family members), while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Completes birth and fetal death certificates.
  • Provides state with necessary birth information within state required timeframe, as needed.
  • Must perform HIM Tech duties as assigned
