About The Position

Central Carolina Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Health Information Management Analyst. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient records across various departments including inpatient, short stay surgery, rehab, and observation. The hospital is a 137-bed acute care facility with a long history of serving the Lee County community and holds several accreditations and awards for its quality of care, including recognition as a Primary Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED – Required
Minimum 6 months HIM/Medical Records experience preferred.
Prior experience in an acute care setting desired.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree in health information technology preferred.

Responsibilities

Assembling and reviewing all inpatient, short stay surgery, rehab, and observation records for accuracy and completeness of documentation.
Analyzing the medical record for chart completion deficiencies, in accordance with regulatory requirements and medical staff rules and regulations.
Ensuring any deficiencies are assigned to the appropriate medical staff member and data is entered for tracking and monitoring purposes.
Reviewing documentation and updating or clearing deficiencies as appropriate.
Answering telephone calls and assisting visitors (including but not limited to physicians, patients, and their family members), while maintaining confidentiality.
Completing birth and fetal death certificates.
Providing state with necessary birth information within state required timeframe, as needed.
Performing HIM Tech duties as assigned.
