Dixon Correctional Institute is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Health Information Coordinator to join our medical services team. This role is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing offender health records in accordance with state and federal regulations, departmental policies, and established healthcare standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to accuracy, proficiency in medical documentation practices, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced correctional healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in administrative services; OR One year of training in or completion of a business or clerical-related curriculum from a business school or technical institute.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the required general experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, organize, and update offender medical records in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of medical documentation into electronic and paper health information systems.
  • Coordinate the flow of health information between medical, administrative, and security staff.
  • Process requests for medical records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and departmental policy.
  • Monitor records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established standards.
  • Prepare, file, and retrieve medical charts and documentation as needed by clinical staff.
  • Assist with scheduling, documentation logs, and record-keeping for clinical encounters.
  • Support audits, quality assurance reviews, and reporting requirements related to health information management.
  • Maintain secure storage and controlled access to all medical records and protected health information.
  • Provide administrative support to the medical department, including data entry, tracking, and documentation management.
