About The Position

Aptive is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Health Informatics Integrator SME to support Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) efforts under the Rapid Decision Making contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This role supports end-user education, stakeholder engagement, training reinforcement, ServiceNow workflow adoption, and evaluation-driven process improvement within the Tiered Hub Process (THP). The ideal candidate has served as a Health Informatics Integrator, facility or VISN informaticist, clinical informatics lead, nursing informatics analyst, Cerner/Oracle Health program integrator, or comparable VA field-facing informatics roles. They should understand how EHR issues, change requests, workflow problems, and escalation decisions move from local teams to national pathways. The Health Informatics Integrator SME will provide expert guidance, analysis, and support to help VA stakeholders evaluate, optimize, and reinforce clinical and business processes across EHR environments. The role requires strong knowledge of VHA operations, facility and VISN structures, clinical workflow, informatics practices, and issue-management processes that support efficient, compliant, and user-centered care delivery.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in nursing, health informatics, healthcare administration, public health, health systems management, information systems, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum eight (10) years of experience in healthcare operations, clinical informatics, health IT, EHR implementation or support, workflow analysis, issue management, or process improvement.
  • Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, or another large integrated federal healthcare environment.
  • Hands-on experience with clinical or health informatics workflows at a facility, VISN, market, regional, or enterprise level.
  • Experience using ServiceNow or comparable ticketing/issue-management tools to track, route, analyze, or resolve EHR-related issues.
  • Working knowledge of VHA Medical Center operations, VISN structures, and clinical and administrative processes.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, office hours, trainings, stakeholder interviews, or communities of practice with clinical, operational, and technical audiences.
  • Strong writing skills, including the ability to develop SOPs, job aids, quick-reference guides, training materials, meeting summaries, and leadership briefings.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose operational challenges and develop practical process redesign or improvement strategies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving, matrixed environment with government, contractor, clinical, technical, and operational stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Public Trust clearance eligibility and U.S. work authorization required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a VA Health Informatics Integrator, facility informaticist, VISN informaticist, clinical informatics lead, nursing informatics analyst, or Cerner/Oracle Health program integrator.
  • Current Pubic Trust Clearance with VA access.
  • Experience with ServiceNow workflows for EHR issue management, including routing, dashboards, ticket-quality review, workflow reporting, or end-user training.
  • Experience supporting federal healthcare clients in a consulting or contractor capacity, particularly in change management, process improvement, stakeholder engagement, implementation support, or evaluation activities.
  • Clinical background such as RN, LPN, pharmacist, provider, therapist, clinical analyst, or other healthcare discipline.
  • Nursing informatics, AMIA, ANIA, HIMSS, Lean Six Sigma, PROSCI, PMP, or related certification or professional development.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide process improvement initiatives in federal healthcare systems.
  • Knowledge of federal healthcare policy development and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Health Informatics Integrator subject matter expert supporting VA EHR issue-management workflows across facility, VISN, and national stakeholder groups.
  • Provide guidance to facility and VISN informatics stakeholders on THP execution, issue submission, triage, routing, escalation, and follow-up.
  • Support Communities of Practice, office hours, webinars, targeted training courses, field-readiness sessions, and other stakeholder engagement forums.
  • Translate field questions, pain points, and workflow variation into practical job aids, FAQs, quick-reference materials, training content, SOP updates, and process improvement recommendations.
  • Apply knowledge of VistA/CPRS and Federal EHR operational environments to help sites understand and apply issue management processes before, during, and after EHR deployment.
  • Identify workflow gaps, competency gaps, recurring site questions, ServiceNow utilization patterns, and opportunities for targeted training or process improvement.
  • Prepare leadership-ready summaries, briefings, meeting notes, field feedback summaries, and recommendations that connect site-level issues to enterprise improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with VA clinical, informatics, operational, technical, and leadership stakeholders to ensure improvement activities meet operational and clinical needs.
  • Analyze current-state operations, define future-state concepts, and support implementation of improved healthcare business and clinical processes.
  • Monitor redesigned processes to support sustained improvement and alignment with VHA policies, priorities, and strategic goals.
