About The Position

At the Millis Center teammates have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by educating and engaging students from preschool through fifth grade. Our educators teach a variety of fun, interactive health education classes designed to help students build healthy habits and make positive choices. Working with children is both rewarding and energizing and educators can have opportunities to teach off-site classes and participate in community events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Health Education, Health Promotion, Community Health or related field
  • Ability to speak and hear is required to effectively instruct classes.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years' experience in health education or early childhood education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, educators, families and community partners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapt to different learning environments, and create fun, engaging educational experiences for students.

Responsibilities

  • Industry Research updated health information to insure that the latest information is available to the classes at the Millis Regional Health Education Center.
  • Participant Feedback File comments stated by MRHEC participants or visitors during or after programs or tours and respond, when appropriate.
  • Community Health Fairs Assist Health Education Coordinator in coordination and staffing of children or adult community health fairs to promote MRHEC.
  • Post-Program Performance Maintains average on returned post-program evaluations.
  • Teamwork Work with administrative assistant and/or volunteer to assure group visit goes smoothly (setting up lunchrooms, theaters, WDP, give-a-ways)
  • Exhibit Operation Become familiar with procedures for operating all the equipment, exhibits and displays at MRHEC.
  • Make sure all exhibits & displays in theatre and Wellness Discovery Place are in working order before programs.
  • Report all malfunctions of equipment to Health Education Coordinator for maintenance &/or repair.
  • Financial Awareness Work with volunteer & MRHEC assistant to assure program monies have been received & documented from visiting groups according to procedures.
  • Special Events Teaches or participates in after-school, evening, and/or week-end events annually as needed.
  • Professionalism Upholds a professional working relationship at all times and adheres to department rules.

  • Other Duties Performs other duties as assigned by management.
