About The Position

Reporting to the Program Manager, Child and Adolescent Services, the full time, non-exempt Health Educator works to implement health education, prevention, promotion and harm reduction efforts with Honor Community Health’s patients, particularly with children and adolescents served by Honor’s school-based health centers, and students inside area schools. The Health Educator is responsible for building relationships with students, principals, teachers, parents and other school personnel in order to identify/develop and implement health education and prevention programming. Physical office will be located at the Pontiac High School Child and Adolescent Health Center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, Health Education, Social Work, Health Sciences or related field.
  • Previous experience with working in education, healthcare, community-based or human service settings.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work with a variety of patient populations.
  • Ability to manage programming across multiple assigned locations while meeting competing deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate sensitive health topics in an age-appropriate, nonjudgmental, and professional manner.
  • A compassionate and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to create an excellent patient experience.
  • Patient focused mindset.
  • Must be willing to travel between other locations when needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience collecting program data, evaluating activities, and completing grant-related documentation preferred.
