About The Position
Under general supervision, the Health Educator I or II plans, implements, and evaluates health education programs for the Tuscarawas County Health Department and its programs by addressing community needs through a health equity lens. Collaborates with other community agencies to ascertain health needs, develops desirable health goals, and determines highest need for public health intervention. Develops and maintains cooperation between public, civic, professional, and volunteer agencies.
Requirements
- Public Health Educator I: A bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Community Health, School Health Education, Health Studies, Nutrition, Health Behavior, Public Health or Nursing or a related field.
- Public Health Educator II: Master’s degree in Public Health or a related field plus 2 years working experience in health education or community health OR a bachelor’s degree plus 5 years’ experience in health education or community health at a health department.
- Valid State of Ohio driver’s license.
- Must remain insurable in accordance with the agency’s insurance policy.
- Must sign and abide by the agency’s nicotine-free hiring policy.
- Must successfully pass drug screen and background check.
- Hiring is contingent upon grant award.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES)
- Experience with grant writing and implementation
- Strong communication skills, including written and public speaking.
Responsibilities
