Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in health education or health-related field
  • Current North Carolina driver’s license required.
  • Tobacco treatment certification, Safe Sitter and Health Coach Certification required during first year of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • two years of health education experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Uses an appropriate problem-solving approach to develop health education and client support activities.
  • Assesses needs and opportunities in areas of responsibility.
  • Research current health interventions upon request.
  • Applies/Creates action and lesson plans.
  • Identify mechanisms for client access and support.
  • Identifies performance improvement processes
  • Provides health education and client support activities with consideration for the recipient’s needs.
  • Provides client privacy and comfort.
  • Adapt activities to meet age-specific, linguistic, and cultural needs.
  • Provides assessment tools for measuring client satisfaction and impact.
  • Uses equipment / supplies correctly.
  • Obtains/maintains equipment and supplies for programs.
  • Maintains competency in office and computer equipment.
  • Follows safety and infection control policies.
  • Teaches / directs / advises / informs others in an appropriate manner.
  • Communicates recommended guidelines for health interventions.
  • Maintains positive patient/provider communications and feedback.
  • Reports status of program activities to team, program manager, administration, granting officials and other appropriate individuals on a regular basis.
  • Informs appropriate individuals of program process, outcome and perception data.
  • Collaborates with appropriate agencies/individuals to promote FirstHealth initiatives.
  • Makes presentations to community groups, businesses, and funding organizations.
  • Reports / records information appropriately.
  • Collects and records process, outcome and perception data according to department standards.
  • Completes program reports and appropriate communications as requested.
  • Consult Health Programs Manager for all required program expenditures prior to purchase.
