About The Position

The Education Specialist will provide coordination of community programs, schools out events, field trips, and various other education events at Bonnet Springs Park. They will be responsible for the research and proposal of education program events, organization of program materials, booking community partners, and supply inventory. Essential Responsibilities: Work cooperatively and collaboratively with all departments to implement community education programs for families at BSP. Oversee and manage the supplies required to provide high-quality education activities and events. Ensure smooth and efficient operation of all elements of program services. Develop, execute, and evaluate program evaluation system to ensure programming aligns with Education goals and objectives. Aid the development and implementation of a marketing strategy to maximize attendance for education programs. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with educational institutions, school district personnel, and various community organizations. Assist with monthly educational community events tailored specifically to homeschool families. Teach and assist educational programs as needed. Essential Functions: Responsible for research of science-focused science education trends. Recommend new programming initiatives to serve educational audiences of Bonnet Springs Park. Responsible for management of daily logistics and communication related to education programming. Communicate with vendors and community partners by phone and email to answer all questions and suggest appropriate and diverse programs. Work with Education Manager to maintain and track accurate financial and attendance reports regarding education programs. Ensure necessary internal communication occurs to provide essential information to all BSP departments in relation to education programming. Integrate sensory-friendly and inclusive strategies to education programs to address diverse sensory needs and preferences. Research and present current themes for education programming that engage guests and drives event attendance. Work with regional partners and vendors to support diverse programming offerings. Create event plans for education programming. Manage and support education program volunteers to ensure they are prepared to lead education activities effectively. Follow and relay complex oral and written instructions, policies, and procedures. Ensure supplies are ordered, properly organized, and on-hand for education program operation. Lead field trip programming, as needed. Develop and maintain supply inventory, keep storage areas organized and tidy. Assist with the planning and execution of BSP signature events and STEAM Spring Break. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science education, environmental science, recreational programming, or related field.
  • At least one year of experience working with school groups in grades K-12 in a formal or informal education setting.
  • At least one year of experience in sales, reservations, and/or customer service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to learn new systems and software that support the park’s education programming.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively and collaborate with co-workers, community partners, donors, and guests.
  • Possess planning and organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize needs and follow through with tasks.
  • Meet and deal courteously with the general public.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team achieving common goals.
  • Ability to prepare a variety of reports and presentations.
  • Pass a background check and mandatory drug test.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable through the park’s insurance carrier.
  • Ability to endure five or more hours in an outdoor setting during various seasonal weather.
  • Must have good people skills and be comfortable interacting with guests of all ages.
  • Tuesday through Saturday, evening, and holiday work in alignment with programming may be required.
