Position Summary: Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) and Market Access Lead to support the global value, access, and reimbursement function as the company advances its lead immunology program and future pipeline assets toward commercialization. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, this part time contractor up to 20 hours per week will be responsible for developing and executing integrated HEOR and market access strategies during phase 3 development that will help support patient access and demonstrate the clinical, economic, and societal value of Avalo’s products at launch.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred (MBA, MPH, MHA, PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Market Access, Pricing, Reimbursement, HEOR, or related commercial functions within the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Hands-on experience with HEOR methodologies, evidence generation, and comparative effectiveness modeling.
  • Demonstrated success developing market access strategies for specialty or biologic therapies.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. payer systems, including commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid reimbursement environments.
  • Experience supporting launch preparation and commercialization planning for innovative therapeutics.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives across clinical, medical, commercial, and regulatory organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence executive leadership and drive strategic decision-making

  • Ability to operate independently in a small-company environment, translating strategic objectives into clear tactical plans, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Experience in immunology, dermatology, inflammation, autoimmune disease, rare disease, or specialty biologics.
  • Deep expertise in HEOR methodologies, health economic modeling, outcomes research, and real-world evidence generation.
  • Strong knowledge of global pricing, reimbursement, and health technology assessment processes.
  • Global market access experience, including engagement with ex-U.S. reimbursement authorities and HTA bodies.
  • Strong understanding of payer evidence requirements, HTA expectations, patient-reported outcomes, real-world evidence, and health economic modeling.
  • Familiarity with Hidradenitis Suppurativa and inflammatory disease treatment landscapes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute HEOR strategies that generate evidence supporting product differentiation and value demonstration.
  • Translate strategy into tactical workplans, including HEOR/access timelines, deliverables, owners, and dependencies.
  • Lead development of economic models, budget impact analyses, cost-effectiveness studies, burden-of-illness research, and real-world evidence initiatives.
  • Ensure generation of evidence required to support payer decision-making, HTA submissions, and reimbursement negotiations.
  • Partner with Clinical Development and Medical Affairs to integrate access and evidence needs into development plans and clinical trial design.
  • Oversee publication strategies related to health economics, outcomes research, and real-world evidence.
  • Develop and execute global market access strategies during phase 3 development that will support the successful launch and commercialization of abdakibart in the HS indication.
  • Conduct pricing research, competitive assessments, scenario modeling, and launch pricing analyses.
  • Lead the development of payer value propositions, reimbursement strategies, and access plans for U.S. and international markets.
  • Serve as the company subject matter expert on payer dynamics, reimbursement policy, and healthcare system trends.
  • Evaluate the impact of healthcare policy, payer reforms, and evolving reimbursement environments on Avalo's portfolio.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership regarding pricing, access, and reimbursement opportunities and risks.
  • Manage external HEOR, pricing, payer research, and market access vendors to ensure high-quality, timely delivery of agreed work products
  • Travel for onsite onboarding and periodic site visits as needed to engage key stakeholders
  • Participate remotely in the abdakibart weekly program team meetings, providing HEOR input when relevant to planned agenda topics
  • Collaborate with Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, and Commercial Strategy to align evidence-generation and access objectives.
