About The Position

St. John Paul II Academy in Corpus Christi, Texas, is hiring a part-time Health Coordinator. The primary responsibilities of this role involve ensuring that all required documentation and health screenings for students are performed according to Diocesan and state requirements. These screenings must be conducted by appropriately trained and certified screeners. The Health Coordinator will be responsible for monitoring immunizations, maintaining health records and emergency cards, and completing the necessary Diocesan health reports. All required forms throughout the year will fall under the Health Coordinator's purview. This position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • CPR and First Aid certified
  • First Aid skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and members of the community
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion
  • General use of computer hardware and basic office software including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Phone and receptionist skills
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review (MVR), and drug screening
  • Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required
  • Must adhere to all Diocesan policies and procedures

Nice To Haves

  • CNA, LVN preferred/not required
  • Experience in the medical field preferred/not required
  • Experience working with children
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with diocesan policies and procedures
  • CPR & First Aid Certified preferred

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Continuous growth in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
  • Monitor and see students that have a medical concern
  • Call to update parents on health/medical concerns
  • Review, input, and monitor student immunization records
  • Maintain student health records
  • Complete Accident Forms
  • Administer medication
  • Answer phones
  • State report monitoring and inputting
  • Perform other duties as assigned
