About The Position

As required by our governmental client, this position requires an active NACI/Tier I clearance or the ability to obtain a NACI/Tier I clearance to be considered. As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen, lawful resident alien, citizen of American Samoa or other territory owning permanent allegiance to the United States. CNIH is seeking a Health Communication Specialist to support DGMH’s communication and training initiatives. This position requires expertise in editorial services, strategic communication, and audience segmentation, with a focus on creating high-quality content for talking points, websites, and training materials. The ideal candidate will collaborate across teams to advance public health communication projects, evaluate communication and training materials and provide guidance on strategic messaging and educational programs.

Requirements

  • Active NACI/Tier I clearance or the ability to obtain a NACI/Tier I clearance.
  • US Citizen, lawful resident alien, citizen of American Samoa or other territory owning permanent allegiance to the United States.
  • Expertise in editorial services, strategic communication, and audience segmentation.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Journalism, English, Communication, Health Communication, Public Health, or related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, SharePoint, Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote) and MS Automate.
  • Experience with editorial tools and platforms, including VisibleThread, Meltwater Social Listening, and Digital First Editor.
  • Experience with Plain Language.
  • Proven ability to facilitate group discussions on high-level communication strategies and priorities.
  • Demonstrated skills in data analysis and interpretation, specifically in metrics from Adobe Analytics, Meltwater Social Listening, and webpage performance.
  • Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts and communication specialists.
  • Ability to pass U.S. Government security investigation and Cherokee Federal pre-employment qualifications.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain communication and educational materials, including fact sheets, newsletters, talking points, job aids, web content, multimedia products, and other communication resources, in collaboration with the Communication, Media, and Training (CoMeT) team for internal and external audiences.
  • Develop, deliver, and evaluate instructor-led, virtual, and self-paced training programs using instructional design principles and multimedia technologies to support CDC staff, port health station personnel, public health partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide editorial and technical writing support for communication products, including newsletters, social media content, CDC-INFO responses, press materials, reports, presentations, email communications, and other written products; ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with organizational messaging.
  • Conduct formative, process, and outcome evaluations of communication strategies, tools, and training products; analyze performance data, prepare reports and presentations, and apply findings to improve communication effectiveness and program outcomes.
  • Support strategic public health communication initiatives by coordinating communication projects, developing messaging and stakeholder materials, and collaborating with health communicators, subject matter experts, policy advisors, and leadership to advance organizational priorities.
  • Analyze digital communication and training metrics, including SharePoint and document performance data, and develop reports and recommendations to inform leadership decisions, improve audience engagement, and enhance communication strategies.
