About The Position

Goldbelt Professional Services, LLC is seeking a Health Communication/Technical Writer to work within the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA. This position will provide professional support for the Program Development and Strategy Unit (PDSU). The Health Communications/Technical Writer will report to Goldbelt Professional Services leadership to ensure the execution of timely, high-quality deliverables for the client. This position is contingent upon the successful award of a contract currently under bid.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of public health communication principles, plain language standards, CDC requirements, clearance processes, and leadership messaging priorities.
  • Skill in developing, reviewing, and editing clear, accurate, and consistent communication materials across multiple channels, including media responses, talking points, factsheets, newsletters, and toolkits.
  • Ability to create and manage PowerBI dashboards, analytics reports, and other data visualization products to track media trends, outcomes, health trends, and audience engagement.
  • Skill in analyzing engagement metrics, media data, audience insights, and communication outcomes to refine messaging and improve outreach effectiveness.
  • Ability to develop timely outbreak-related communication products and resources for state, local, and partner audiences, including public information officers and other public health stakeholders.
  • Public health communication skills, including ability to support development and packaging of toolkits, guidance, etc.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical language to non-expert audiences, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to quickly synthesize and communicate information in a concise, digestible way.
  • Experience liaising across teams with varying expertise and skill sets.
  • Advanced use of Adobe and Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, SharePoint).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work well independently, be solution-oriented, motivated, and committed to customer and company success.
  • Able to collaborate with internal CDC partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Communications, Public Health, English or related field.
  • At least 2-5 years of experience in health communication or a related field.
  • Experience developing, reviewing, and editing public-facing communication materials, including talking points, factsheets, newsletters, media responses, toolkits, or similar products.
  • Experience using analytics, reporting, or data visualization tools, such as PowerBI, to track trends, measure outcomes, and present findings.
  • Experience analyzing engagement metrics, audience insights, media trends, or communication performance data to inform messaging and outreach strategies.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams, leadership, partners, and state or local public health stakeholders, particularly during time-sensitive or outbreak-related situations.
  • Familiarity with CDC’s operations, public health programs, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Highly detailed and organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office Tools.
  • Experience with current Section 508 Compliance Requirements and Clear Communication Index.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with the CDC is highly desired to understand the culture and environment.
  • Experience with Health Communications.
  • 3+ years with a MA/MS degree in English, Health Education, Public Health or related field.

Responsibilities
