About The Position

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a Health Care Technician Lead to function as a Preceptor at Central Regional Hospital (CRH) on the Adult Admissions Unit. This role involves mentoring, training, and assisting lower-level Health Care Technicians, while also performing all duties of a Health Care Technician I & II under the supervision of a Licensed Registered Nurse. The position serves a diverse patient population with varying legal and security statuses. Requirements

High school or General Educational Development diploma and two years of closely related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
Advanced Physical Skills (APS) certification through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and CPR certification within 60 days.
Valid Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

Skills in patient interactions involving behavioral, physical and medical interventions (within scope).
Skills in restrictive Intervention Techniques (NVCI, APT) and CPR Instruction.
Collection of bio-statistical data (such as vital signs, lab draws and specimen collection).
Ability to mentor and role-model the HCT/TSS roles while working with behaviorally difficult patients.
Ability to perform as an instructor of NVCI, APT and CPR (when required).

Responsibilities

Mentor to and provide assistance in training/instruction responsibilities.
Perform all the tasks, duties and responsibilities of lower-level Health Care Technician I & II as required in patient care.
Function within the scope of a Certified Nursing Assistant – all duties are delegated by and completed under the supervision of a Licensed Registered Nurse.
Work among varying patient population with varying legal and security status.
