About The Position

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a Health Care Technician Lead to function as a Preceptor at Central Regional Hospital (CRH) on the Adult Admissions Unit. This role involves mentoring, training, and assisting lower-level Health Care Technicians, while also performing all duties of a Health Care Technician I & II under the supervision of a Licensed Registered Nurse. The position serves a diverse patient population with varying legal and security statuses. Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development diploma and two years of closely related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
  • Advanced Physical Skills (APS) certification through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and CPR certification within 60 days.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Skills in patient interactions involving behavioral, physical and medical interventions (within scope).
  • Skills in restrictive Intervention Techniques (NVCI, APT) and CPR Instruction.
  • Collection of bio-statistical data (such as vital signs, lab draws and specimen collection).
  • Ability to mentor and role-model the HCT/TSS roles while working with behaviorally difficult patients.
  • Ability to perform as an instructor of NVCI, APT and CPR (when required).

Responsibilities

  • Mentor to and provide assistance in training/instruction responsibilities.
  • Perform all the tasks, duties and responsibilities of lower-level Health Care Technician I & II as required in patient care.
  • Function within the scope of a Certified Nursing Assistant – all duties are delegated by and completed under the supervision of a Licensed Registered Nurse.
  • Work among varying patient population with varying legal and security status.
