About The Position

This position is a Health Care Technician II – Dining Coordinator role located in Newport Cottage, serving all units within the cottage. Responsibilities include monitoring individuals during snacks and mealtimes to ensure safety, support, and adherence to individual dietary needs, as well as observing staff to ensure proper procedures are followed and assistance is provided appropriately. The Dining Coordinator will be responsible for implementing daily food preparation and meal safety programming for the population served. The Dining Coordinator will participate in meetings related to individual care, including Person-Centered Plan meetings, interim meetings, admissions, and management meetings, and will serve as an active member of the treatment team. Additional duties include purchasing items for dietary, programming, activity needs, and special events; providing in-service training to staff on dining procedures; planning and assisting with special events; and ensuring that all dining programs remain person-centered. The role also involves goal implementation, monitoring individual progress, serving as the Adaptive Dining Equipment Representative for assigned areas, maintaining and updating the dining program notebook, writing monthly progress notes, and developing and updating programming schedules. Collaboration with the Food and Nutrition Department is required to ensure staff are trained in community-based food preparation skills. The Dining Coordinator will also assist with planning for the Farm Day and Arts Festival; assist with ICF/CQI and will provide unit coverage as needed. ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
  • As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
