About The Position

This Educational Developmental Assistant position is located in Pineview Cottage, Unit 3, which is a female unit. The EDA provides skill training and associated documentation in areas such as hygiene, grooming, toileting, bathing, dressing, dining, communication, money management, safety awareness, vocational, and leisure. The EDA provides direct care services within the building, integrating skill development and enhancement into the individual's living and working environment. The EDA also serves as an integral participant in the team process. This position works with multiple individuals in and outside of the classroom to ensure their overall well-being, health, and safety. This role is responsible for adhering to each person's plan and prescriptive guidelines, including health care considerations, behavioral plans, and supervision guidelines. All employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience working with students in an educational environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must successfully complete the Murdoch Developmental Center “Basic Training Series”; which includes, but is not limited to program library training, First Aid, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Techniques (NVCI), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting.
  • Must be able to pass a physical requirements test.
  • Must be in good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry.

  • Work experience in basic knowledge/skills of providing direct care which may include but is not limited to training Individuals in activities of daily living.
