About The Position

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking Health Care Technicians I (HCT I) to function as Therapeutic Support Specialists I (TSS) at Central Regional Hospital in Butner, North Carolina. This role involves monitoring patients and performing technical procedures under the supervision of a Licensed Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, assisting patients with daily living activities, and maintaining patient observation levels. Requirements

  • Proficient in written and verbal English.
  • Ability to follow treatment plans and/or clinical orders.
  • Ability to learn behavior management and supportive counseling techniques.
  • Ability to observe patients and make written and oral reports.
  • Nurse Aide I listing by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Physical Skills (APS) certification through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and CPR certification within 60 days.
  • If applicants are not NA I certified and are selected for a position, training will be offered by the hospital. However, certification must be obtained, and employee must pass all facility required training as a condition of employment.
  • Listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor patients and perform technical procedures within the scope of a certified nurse's aide (CNA).
  • Obtain vital signs.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living.
  • Maintain level of observations of patients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
