About The Position

The Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center in Black Mountain, NC, is currently accepting applications for a Health Care Technician II (Lead). This position is located on unit Rasberry 2 (R2) on Day Shift (1st). The Black Mountain Neuro-Medical Treatment Center is one of three state operated facilities serving adults with chronic and complex medical conditions that co-exist with neurodevelopmental or neurocognitive disorders often related to a diagnosis of severe and persistent mental illness or intellectual disability. The health and physical status of these residents require 24-hour supervision, daily nursing care, and assistance with activities of daily living. Our mission statement is to be a specialized long-term care facility focusing on maintaining quality of life and dignity for adults with neurocognitive or neurodevelopmental disorders with coexisting complex medical and behavioral needs whose level of support extends beyond that which can be provided in family or community living settings. We are committed to providing individualized compassionate care delivered by highly skilled staff.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
  • As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.

Nice To Haves

  • scheduling staff and ensuring proper coverage of the residential unit
  • formulating daily staff assignments in collaboration with the Nursing Unit Manager
  • providing on-the-job training and mentoring to HCT I's and providing information related to the operation of the unit and the care of the residents to groups of staff
  • coordinating HCT I staff within the unit to assist with medical appointments, off-campus activities, leisure activities and to provide back-up support to other units as needed
  • assisting nursing staff as needed and performing other duties as assigned

Responsibilities

  • Evening: 20% shift premium plus an additional 5% weekend shift premium
