The Health Care Associate (HCA) provides direct patient care under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated health care professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and within the policies, procedures, and guidelines of the organization. This role involves providing basic patient care, acting as a liaison between patients and nurses, delivering high-level customer service, and performing accurate documentation. The HCA is also responsible for participating in patient hand-offs, performing delegated tasks after competency validation, and mobilizing patients using therapeutic transfer techniques to foster independence and safety. Care is individualized based on patient needs and preferences.
