The Health Care Assistant (HCA) is administratively supervised by the Center Manager and clinically supervised by the Clinician(s). This role is responsible for providing high-quality medical support and clinical care with a focus on outstanding client satisfaction while maintaining/exceeding productivity standards. All duties are performed professionally and in a customer service-oriented manner, complying with PPDE’s Manual of Medical Standards and Guidelines, PPDE policies and procedures, and State and Federal regulatory requirements. The position involves participation in training sessions, including computer-assisted learning. The HCA will welcome and assist clients through the visit process, complete patient intake assessment interviews, provide client-focused education/information, distribute and review fact sheets, and manage the informed consent process with accurate medical record documentation. They will assist clinicians and clients with examinations, follow-up care, and referrals. Duties also include acting as a Procedure Room Assistant, conducting laboratory testing, and sterilizing instruments. The HCA may assist in abortion services as needed and is responsible for maintaining the upkeep and care of exam rooms, clinical work areas, equipment, and supplies, including log entries. Front office duties include receiving and directing calls, using the practice management system for client information, service data, and charges, and performing charge-out duties. Accurate recording of lab tests and results in logs and medical records is essential. The HCA will provide injections as necessary and conduct various lab tests for patients, including Pregnancy, STI, and HIV. Adherence to the mission of PPDE is required, along with performing additional duties as assigned.
