About The Position

Kern Community College District is soliciting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors. The starting salary range is $67.00/lecture hour equivalent; Hourly rate may vary based on type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. For more information, refer to the CCA collective bargaining agreement or your college HR office. The successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction in a full range of health care ancillaries/licensed midwifery topics related to supporting healthcare services and procedures. This position requires current knowledge, skills, and attitudes consistent with the legal and ethical practices of Midwifery. The Midwifery Instructor position may require evening and weekend hours as well as delivery of curriculum off site.

Requirements

  • An associate's degree in related field AND a minimum of six years of professional experience as a Certified Professional Midwife, OR A bachelor's degree in related field AND a minimum of two years of professional experience as a Certified Professional Midwife.
  • Nationally certified midwife (CPM, CM, CNM) and/or legally recognized in a jurisdiction, province, and state.
  • Have at least three years of work experience in clinical midwifery practice -OR- a minimum of 50 births as the primary or co-primary attendant.
  • Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administration in California Community Colleges.
  • A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406).
  • Foreign degrees must be evaluated by an evaluation service.
  • Broadly prepared and have a depth of knowledge in the discipline.
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning and service to a diverse student population.
  • Ability to effectively work with students with a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
  • Ability to develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain subject matter currency.
  • Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that would benefit the program.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.

Responsibilities
