About The Position

We are currently hiring Part-Time Health Care Aides to join our team at our Bethany Residence program in Burlington. Located in Burlington, Bethany Residence is owned by the Halton Region and operated by AbleLiving Services with 128 beds. Bethany offers shared bedroom accommodation with all meals included as well as life skills, recreation and housekeeping supports in a large congregate setting. This position is responsible for providing non-medical support services, life skills, mental health support, laundry, and light housekeeping duties to enable residents to live as independently as possible. Duties include assisting residents with personal care, arranging and escorting residents to appointments, and providing housekeeping services. Such duties are carried out under the direction of the resident, their care plan, and in accordance with Client Service Contracts, laws, and regulations governing service provision.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma
  • Experience in the provision of personal support services to people with mental health and concurrent disorders, disabilities and/or seniors
  • The ability to empathize with people with physical, emotional and social needs
  • Knowledge of basic math and ability to do calculations and quantity measurements
  • Ability to plan and organize work and perform tasks according to priority
  • Ability to make solid decisions and problem-solve effectively
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with a competent level of English
  • High commitment to providing exceptional customer service
  • Reliable, punctual, and capable of managing time effectively
  • Ability to develop supportive relationships and work collaboratively with residents, family members, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners
  • Able to take direction and work independently as well as part of a team
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check

Nice To Haves

  • Additional certification in personal support care, first aid, health care or other related qualification
  • Able to communicate in other languages
