The Health Care Aide (HCA) role involves providing direct care to clients, ensuring their physical, mental, emotional, psychosocial, and cultural/spiritual needs are met. This includes building rapport with clients and their families, identifying and supporting clients experiencing stress, and promoting a culture of teamwork. The HCA is also responsible for equipment checks, adhering to infection control and safety guidelines, and observing and reporting client status and behaviors. A key aspect of the role is respecting client rights, including confidentiality, privacy, independence, well-being, and choice, as well as recognizing and reporting signs of abuse.
