About The Position

Visiting Angels of Sacramento is seeking compassionate, experienced caregivers who are passionate about helping others to join our team. We are looking for individuals who desire a career with flexibility, room for growth, and the ability to make a difference in the lives of senior adults in the local area, including Sacramento, Davis, Elk Grove, and surrounding communities. As a Home Care Aide - HCA, you will assist clients in staying at home or recovering at home with dignity. While each client visit is unique, the role involves providing personal care, managing light housekeeping, encouraging exercise, reminding clients about medications, assisting with shopping and meal preparation, and aiding with mobility.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years old and able to work legally in the US
• Fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 with shot record
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• Possess a Valid Driver's License, Car Insurance, and a Reliable Personal Vehicle to use to transport clients
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must
• Have excellent time-management skills and can juggle multiple duties at once
• Reliable transportation to get to and from client homes at the times you're scheduled to provide care
• Feel confident in your physical endurance when it comes to things like carrying groceries and physically supporting a client
• Feel comfortable performing housekeeping and cooking duties while adhering to applicable dietary constraints
• Willing and able to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards (ex., background check)
• Bring compassion, understanding, and a desire to brighten the day of each client to the table
• Must be able to use a smartphone for electronic visit verification (EVV) and caregiver notes
• Ability to pass extensive background checks, including Live Scan fingerprinting
• Have a negative TB screening within the last 90 days
• Registered on the California Home Care Aide Registry

Responsibilities

• Helping clients handle personal care and hygiene
• Managing light housekeeping
• Encouraging clients to meet their exercise and fitness goals
• Prompting clients to take their prescription medications at the right times
• Helping clients with shopping and putting away groceries (or shopping for them)
• Planning and preparing meals in collaboration with clients (based on client ability)
• Assisting clients with mobility and ambulation - this can include everything from getting around the house to visiting the doctor and taking walks
• Acting quickly in the case of medical emergencies
• Reporting any health changes or unusual circumstances
