About The Position

The Health Care Aide (HCA) will be responsible for delivering high-quality client care following the client care plan. This role involves preparing meals, assisting with medications using the Catalyst system, performing household and outdoor maintenance, and maintaining documentation. The HCA will also provide personal care, emotional support, and assist clients with appointments and activities. A key part of the role includes monitoring client well-being, reporting concerns to a supervisor, and liaising with families, guardians, and other professionals.

Requirements

  • HCA certificate from an institution recognized by Alberta health Services as evidenced through enrolment in the CLHA Directory.
  • Maintain certification in First Aid and CPR Level C.
  • Satisfactory current criminal record check.

Responsibilities

  • Following client care plan and delivering high quality client care.
  • Preparing meals and snacks for clients according to the meal plan.
  • Using Catalyst system while providing assistance with medications to clients on time according to Excel Policies and procedures and checking/receiving medication that arrive while on shift.
  • Performing general household duties and maintenance such cleaning, vacuuming, and laundry; and also outside maintenance such as shovelling snow, cutting grass, and gardening.
  • Maintaining/updating all required documentation such as scorecards, medical records, etc.
  • Assisting clients with hygiene and personal care.
  • Providing emotional support to clients and using de-escalation techniques to support clients.
  • Supporting and assisting clients in maintaining appointments, activities, or programs.
  • Monitoring client wellbeing, physical and mental condition closely and reporting concerns to supervisor. Accompanying clients to appointments as necessary.
  • Liaising with families, guardians, professionals and other resource members of the client(s)’ support network, communicating relevant client information to other team members.
