About The Position

Mercer is seeking a talented individual to join their Health & Benefits team in Portland, OR. This is a hybrid role requiring at least three days a week in the office. As a Health & Benefits (H&B) Consultant, you will assist with managing consulting engagements for employers with 100 - 5,000 lives regarding their medical, dental, life, and disability benefit plans and programs. This includes assisting with negotiations with benefits carriers and vendors to secure health and welfare plan coverage and acting as the client manager. You will work alongside a team, including a Relationship Manager, who oversees the overall client relationship. Requirements

  • BA/BS degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in identifying, designing, recommending, and implementing efficient, innovative business solutions to clients' complex health care benefit plans
  • Client facing experience in a consulting capacity
  • Renowned expertise and industry reputation in the health & benefits field

Responsibilities

  • Supporting complex client engagements, including overall service delivery, financial evaluations, plan design, renewal, business placement, benchmarking, and other studies
  • Developing sophisticated benefits design and renewal strategies and drive the development of tools and solutions to address complex client issues
  • Effectively communicating Mercer's position on the latest industry trends to clients
  • Be accountable for revenue/profitability for client accounts and projects
  • Monitor the success of projects in terms of scope, budget, timeliness, and client satisfaction
  • Creating demand for new products/services in the marketplace
  • Manage and participate in new business opportunities with sales channel partners
