About The Position

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Health & Benefits team at Mercer. This role will be based in Portland, OR. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. As a Health & Benefits (H&B) Consultant, you will assist with managing consulting engagements with 100 - 5,000 lives employers regarding their medical, dental, life, and disability benefit plans and programs. You may be assisting with negotiations with benefits carriers and vendors to secure health and welfare plan coverage for these employers and will be acting as the client manager. You will be working alongside a team, including a Relationship Manager, who is responsible for the overall client relationship. We will count on you to contribute towards: Supporting complex client engagements, including overall service delivery, financial evaluations, plan design, renewal, business placement, benchmarking, and other studies. Developing sophisticated benefits design and renewal strategies and drive the development of tools and solutions to address complex client issues. Effectively communicating Mercer's position on the latest industry trends to clients. Be accountable for revenue/profitability for client accounts and projects. Monitor the success of projects in terms of scope, budget, timeliness, and client satisfaction. Creating demand for new products/services in the marketplace. Manage and participate in new business opportunities with sales channel partners.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in identifying, designing, recommending, and implementing efficient, innovative business solutions to clients' complex health care benefit plans.
  • Client facing experience in a consulting capacity
  • Renowned expertise and industry reputation in the health & benefits field.
