About The Position

HPC Industrial, powered by Clean Harbors, is seeking a Health and Safety Supervisor to work at a client facility in Salt Lake City, UT. This role involves inspecting work areas and equipment for compliance with safety regulations, overseeing ongoing work sites to ensure personnel adhere to safety requirements, and promoting a positive safety culture. The position also includes responsibilities in emergency response and site remediation, with work performed in various weather conditions. This is presented as a great opportunity for transitioning military personnel to leverage their skills. The working environment is industrial, including settings like refineries, petrochemical plants, utilities, and pulp and paper mills.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of progressively responsible and related experience in an industrial setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must have a Federal Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Strong knowledge of regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Environmental field a plus!
  • Knowledge of the following is preferred: First Aid, Confined Space and Fall Protection, and DISA standards

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Conduct health and safety inspections, audits and interventions, investigate, oversee, and observe safety conditions and manage safety permits and required paperwork.
  • Manage employee safety training programs and coordination.
  • JLA’s (job loss analysis), JHA’s (job hazard analysis) and manage safety equipment inspection, testing and supply.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on Clean Harbors specific processes and expectations.
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents and manage injury and accident follow-up and reporting.
  • Coach, manage and supervise teams to further enhance their safety responsibility and performance.
  • Establish relationships with client safety department.
  • Demonstrate proficiency at a wide variety of assignments and can direct personnel in operational procedures to complete assignments.
  • Inspects assigned work areas and equipment to identify compliance issues.
  • Documents safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures/practices.
  • Recommends corrective actions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
