About The Position

Sofina Foods is a leading Canadian manufacturer of protein products for various customers and markets. This Health and Safety Student Opportunity is a 3-month position from June 15, 2026, to September 15, 2026. The role involves supporting incident investigations, conducting safety walks, participating in health and safety initiatives, collecting and analyzing safety data, performing administrative functions, collaborating with other students on projects, and assisting with health and safety training.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a Diploma/ Degree program in Occupational Health & Safety or Kinesiology or Ergonomics.
Knowledgeable in OHSA and relevant regulations.
Strong computer proficiency including MS Office, PowerPoint and Excel.
Strong leadership and communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate across many functions.
Energetic self-starter who is passionate about workplace Health and Safety and able to multitask between projects.
A team player who is also able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Support incident investigations, determine root cause, develop corrective actions, and perform closure verification activities.
Develop and prepare incident shares.
Perform Safety Walks, TBSO (Task Based Safety Observations) and Behavioral Based Safety Observations.
Participate in Company health & safety initiatives (such as strategic meetings, conference calls, audits, special projects, etc.).
Collect and analyze statistical data including leading and lagging data to help prepare the focus for the plant’s safety initiatives.
Perform administrative functions to include filling, data entry and quiz corrections.
Partner with other GTA sites Health and Safety Students to network and collaborate on H&S projects.
Monitor and assist in the delivery or coordination of health & safety training requirements for the facility.
