About The Position

The Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for implementing and administering training, emergency response, and PPE programs at the Henry location. This role supports site HSES programs to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ISO, PSM) while maintaining a continuous audit-ready environment. Requirements

  • Minimum: Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Response, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field; or a minimum of five (5) years of direct HSES experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

  • Certifications and training related to this job description are preferred.
  • Understanding and practical experience of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 programs.
  • Experience implementing Health and Safety Programs.
  • Experience with LDAR, PVC MACT, Boiler MACT, RICE MACT, and Title V requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer the site Emergency Response, Risk Management Plan (RMP), and HAZMAT programs including emergency preparedness planning, drills, training, coordination with external emergency responders, maintain emergency response equipment, and incident command support.
  • Identify, develop, implement, and document training programs to support employee competency, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with Supervisors, Engineers and Managers to support incident investigations and root cause analyses, permitting programs (e.g. Hot Work, Confined Space, JSA), and job certifications.
  • Administer and maintain site fire protection systems and emergency response equipment including coordination of inspections, repairs, and modifications.
  • Maintain certifications, qualifications, and training required to perform HSES responsibilities, including RCRA, DOT, HAZWOPER, TSCA, and NESHAP regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a resource to the Incident Commander during emergency situations and support incident command activities in coordination with emergency response team members.
  • Assist with developing, maintaining, and improving facility HSES Policies and Process Safety Management (PSM) programs to support corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and maintain site electronic databases for training and HSES recordkeeping.
  • Provide backup support for the EHSS Supervisor, including Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) activities, contractor management, site security programs, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and other EHSS initiatives as needed.
  • Provide leadership to promote continuous improvement of the site safety culture and ensure compliance with Life Saving Rules and safety fundamentals.
