Health and Safety Officer
About The Position
AGAT Laboratories is seeking a Health and Safety Officer to join their dynamic, purpose-driven team. This role involves implementing initiatives to reduce workplace incidents and hazards, developing and maintaining the health and safety system, and communicating corrective actions across the company's operations. The officer will also be responsible for preparing for and coordinating COR audits, managing supporting documentation and records, compiling statistics and reports, managing workers' compensation claims, and organizing investigations into incidents. The position requires travel to company sites for inspections and support, providing advice to employees on health and safety concerns, and advocating for continuous improvement in health and safety.
Requirements
- Experience in implementing initiatives to reduce workplace incidents and hazards.
- Experience in developing, maintaining, and enforcing health and safety systems.
- Ability to communicate corrective actions and prevention techniques.
- Experience in preparing for, conducting, and coordinating COR audits.
- Skills in managing supporting documentation and records.
- Ability to compile statistics and reports.
- Experience in managing workers’ compensation claims.
- Experience in organizing and conducting investigations into incidents.
- Willingness to travel to company sites.
- Ability to provide advice to employees regarding health and safety concerns.

Responsibilities
- Implement initiatives to reduce workplace incidents and hazards.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce the health and safety system.
- Communicate corrective actions and prevention techniques across AGAT’s operations.
- Prepare for, conduct, and coordinate COR audits as required.
- Manage supporting documentation and records.
- Compile statistics and reports for clients and managers.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims to reduce claim cost impacts.
- Organize and conduct investigations into incidents, including harassment.
- Travel to company sites to conduct inspections and support health and safety initiatives.
- Provide advice to employees regarding health and safety concerns.
- Advocate for continuous improvement in health and safety.
