About The Position

Based in Queenstown, the Health & Safety Coordinator provides strategic and operational health and safety leadership across water infrastructure operations, ensuring compliance with OHSAS 18001:2007 and AS/NZS 4801 certification standards. This role drives continuous improvement in health and safety performance, manages risk effectively, and fosters a strong safety culture across all sites and operations. Reporting to the Regional Lead, the position ensures compliance with HSW Act and other relevant legislation while maintaining best practice standards. You'll lead through influence, partnering closely with all levels of the organisation, demonstrating your abilities in communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with a proven track record in incident investigation, safety program delivery, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Relevant degree, certificate or diploma in Health and Safety or relevant industry experience
• Industry related qualifications and knowledge of OHSAS 18001:2007 and AS/NZS 4801
• Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access
• Strong administrative, documentation, data entry and database skills, with a high level of accuracy
• Excellent written, oral, negotiation and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work and resources effectively
• Ability to anticipate problems, take proactive action and deliver quality outputs with minimal supervision
• Self-motivated, reliable and punctual, with the ability to remain calm and manage stress under pressure
• Organised, detail-focused and proactive, with the ability to manage competing priorities and consistently produce high-quality work.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in three waters infrastructure operations is preferred but not essential
• Experience or exposure to Quality, Environmental and Safety Management Systems is desirable
