Requirements

  • Minimum three years' experience in first aid experience, with OFA Level 3 Certification.
  • Valid OFA Level 3 Certification
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must be able to work 12-hour day and night shifts; on a 7x7 rotation.
  • Must be able to communicate in English.
  • Proven safety and attendance record.
  • Ability to remain calm and work effectively in emergent, high-stress situations.
  • Above average computer skills, with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially spreadsheets and databases.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Committed to high standards in health and safety performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to act with integrity, good judgment, and discretion, with a strong emphasis on maintaining confidentiality.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills, able to manage tasks independently.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with peers, trainees, and leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in the mining industry or an industrial setting is an asset.
  • Valid BC Mine Rescue Certificate is also considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all visitors and employees in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Conduct wellness checks with all employees, contractors, and visitors according to company procedures.
  • Monitor, enforce, and regularly update workplace safety policies and procedures to maintain a high level of health and safety performance.
  • Identify and report health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries, and property damage at the workplace.
  • Compile and distribute information/data pertaining to reported incidents; accurately prepare other applicable correspondence, documents, and reports as needed.
  • Compile man-hours and number of people on-site in compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Implement the claims management process.
  • Assist the Health & Safety Coordinator as required.
  • Respond to emergencies and administer competent first aid.
  • Implementation of defined health standards at mine sites, including drug and alcohol programs.
  • Participate in drug and alcohol program as a collector.
  • Ensure site security as mandated by country, provincial, state, and/or local regulatory codes, including but not limited to controlling access and egress to properties by employees, contractors, and others; monitoring all security breaches.
  • Willing to obtain a mine rescue certificate and participate in mine rescue activities.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.
