About The Position

This role provides support to the Health & Safety Department, assisting with daily office needs and managing general administrative activities. The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for making travel and meeting arrangements, preparing reports, and maintaining appropriate filing systems. The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, proficiency in tools like MS Excel, and the ability to ensure the efficient and smooth day-to-day operation of the office.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
  • Proven experience as an administrative assistant or office administrative assistant.
  • Working knowledge of office equipment, like printers and fax machines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word, in particular).
  • Using computer software to create and manage spreadsheets, reports, documents, databases, filing systems, and correspondence.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D).
  • Strong computer skills including experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and other common business software.
  • Ability to use computer software to create and manage spreadsheets, reports, documents, databases, filing systems and correspondence.
  • Must meet Tribal/State compact licensing requirements, pass criminal background check and submit to drug testing.

Responsibilities

  • Answer and direct phone calls.
  • Organize and schedule appointments.
  • Plan meetings and take detailed minutes.
  • Write and distribute email, correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms.
  • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports.
  • Develop and maintain a filing system.
  • Update and maintain office policies and procedures.
  • Order office supplies and research new deals and suppliers.
  • Be aware of all events in the property as a whole.
  • Facilitate and/or attend all mandatory meetings and training.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Operate within the parameters of the Leech Lake Human Resource Policy, Departmental Policy Manual and all Tribal Internal Controls (TICs), and all other applicable regulations.
  • Secure the assets of Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.
  • Other duties as assigned.
