About The Position

To manage all aspects of an NCAA DIII competitive intercollegiate swim program. This is a part-time, head coach position that requires strong organization skills with attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. Willingness to work a flexible schedule. Access to confidential student records and confidential donor and budget information. Ability to demonstrate professional coaching competency and knowledge of DIII intercollegiate athletics. Ability to work with college administration, faculty, staff, students, alumni, media, and various external stakeholders in a professional, courteous, and confidential manner.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations including Title IX
  • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated coaching ability – may include appropriate coaching licensure or certification
  • Ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team
  • The ability to articulate the vision, mission and core values of Division III Athletics and athletics at Western New England University
  • Ability to work collaboratively with athletic department and building staff members as well as with members/staff of other groups/divisions on Campus
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • A minimum of 3 years of university coaching experience requested
  • CPR, First Aid and AED, certification and successful completion of mandated University training is also required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred in Athletic Coaching, Physical Education, Recreation, or associated fields.

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting and retaining student-athletes
  • Practice and game planning and execution
  • Coordinating technical, tactical, and fitness/conditioning training sessions
  • Promoting holistic mental and physical well-being of student-athletes
  • Supervising coaching staff
  • Engaging in the planning and coordination of student-athlete development initiatives including academic progress monitoring, study halls, leadership development program, e.g.
  • Assuring program is in compliance with all Departmental, University, LEC, and NCAA rules, regulations, and policies
  • Participating in oversight of equipment distribution and return
  • Engaging in alumni relations activities
