About The Position

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is seeking a Head Women's Softball Coach to lead the varsity softball team for intercollegiate competition at a nationally competitive level. This position offers a salary range of $55,000 - $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This role is exempt from overtime provisions.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Extensive experience coaching softball at the collegiate level.
  • National certification for softball coaches is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at the NCAA Division II level is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to motivate the scholar-athlete to perform in the classroom and on the playing field.

Responsibilities

  • Train varsity softball teams for intercollegiate competition at a nationally competitive level.
  • Develop and implement a 5-year, annual, seasonal, monthly, weekly, and daily plan for practice and development.
  • Develop and implement game plans.
  • Maintain and increase knowledge of softball training and coaching techniques.
  • Supervise the training, development, and placement of staff personnel.
  • Evaluate prospective student-athletes.
  • Develop and maintain correspondence for prospective student-athletes.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and supervise official and unofficial visits of prospective student-athletes.
  • Supervise National Letter of Intent Signing and Athletic Financial Aid Contracts.
  • Monitor academic performance of student-athletes.
  • Counsel student-athletes.
  • Ensure compliance with all UCCS and NCAA regulations regarding academic eligibility requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate the Division II softball schedule within NCAA, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and institutional guidelines.
  • Supervise home game administration.
  • Plan and coordinate team travel and lodging.
  • Solicit sponsors to provide cash, merchandise, and/or services.
  • Organize and sponsor tournaments and other athletic events.
  • Develop and maintain positive public relations with the University and community.
  • Project a positive image of UCCS and the Department of Athletics.
  • Supervise correspondence regarding UCCS softball.
  • Promote UCCS softball.
  • Adhere to and assist in the development of the budget of the softball program.
  • Perform other duties as prescribed by the Director of Athletics.
