About The Position

The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking a Head Coach to lead its Women's Field Hockey program. This position provides an opportunity to create a positive, supportive experience for student athletes while promoting their athletic, academic, and personal development. The temporary, 10-month appointment runs from July 1 through April 30. The salary is $3,500 for the full appointment. This position requires a flexible schedule, including practices, games, travel, evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience coaching women's field hockey.
  • Ability to recruit, organize, instruct, and supervise student athletes.
  • Ability to create a positive and educational athletic experience.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and supervise team practices and games.
  • Coach and instruct student athletes in field hockey skills, strategies, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Recruit prospective student athletes for the program.
  • Promote a positive team environment that supports student athlete growth and development.
  • Monitor student athletes' academic progress and support their success through weekly in-season study halls and referral to appropriate student resources.
  • Submit team rosters and other required information to the Athletic Director for eligibility review.
  • Assist with collecting required student athlete documentation.
  • Coordinate with the Athletic Director regarding schedules, travel, contests, awards, recruitment, fundraising, and budget matters.
  • Transport student athletes to and from games as needed.
  • Report scores, statistics, injuries, and other required information accurately and promptly.
  • Coordinate publicity efforts with the Athletics office.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety protocols and University and departmental policies.
