The San Diego Symphony operates two world-class venues: the Rady Shell at Jacobs Park and the Jacobs Music Center. The Jacobs Music Center is an indoor concert hall that has recently reopened after extensive renovations. The Symphony hosts a variety of events, including orchestral performances, presented programming, rental client performances, and private events. The Video Head will oversee the Video Department of the Jacobs Music Center, working on all productions with video elements. This role involves supervising the implementation, operation, and maintenance of video equipment, including routing, projectors, cameras, LED walls, and theatrical A/V elements. The position requires performing the work and leading video crew members during load-ins, technical rehearsals, show runs, and loadouts. The goal is to provide patrons with the best possible visual experience through engineering services and leadership of the union video department. This is a union stage crew role, requiring membership in IATSE Local 122. It is an hourly position governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement, and the successful candidate is expected to make the San Diego Symphony their primary employment responsibility. Department Heads perform necessary duties for performance completion and may assist in other areas as long as it does not interfere with their primary responsibilities.
