About The Position

To establish and maintain, according to the Camden Fairview School District and Camden Fairview High School, goals and objectives that will lead to a competitive Basketball program. This position also includes a teaching component in Health/PE. The role involves meeting and instructing assigned academic classes, planning a program of study that meets individual student needs, and creating a conducive learning environment. The coach is responsible for guiding the learning process, assessing student accomplishments, and maintaining accurate records. Additionally, the coach must adhere to district and state regulations regarding player eligibility, actively lead skill development, maintain open communication with administration, assist in the college recruiting process, and establish a culture of respect and high expectations among all stakeholders. The position also involves working with the booster club and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree minimum.
  • 3 years minimum of coaching experience.
  • Must have a valid Arkansas teacher’s license.
  • Must meet State Department of Education requirements for coaching endorsement.
  • Must meet Arkansas Activities Association requirements for coaches.
  • Evidence of strong commitment to quality education.
  • Must have a Class B CDL with airbrakes and school bus endorsement, or be willing to obtain one.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years preferred coaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain goals and objectives for a competitive Basketball program.
  • Meet and instruct assigned academic classes (Health/PE).
  • Plan a program of study that meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Prepare for assigned classes and show evidence of preparation.
  • Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for lessons.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and technology.
  • Implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
  • Assess student accomplishments and provide progress reports.
  • Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records.
  • Assist administration in implementing policies governing student life.
  • Develop and maintain classroom behavior rules and procedures.
  • Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees.
  • Adhere to District, State, and Arkansas Activities Association's regulations regarding eligibility of players.
  • Actively lead and participate with the coaching staff in the skill development of all players.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with school and district administration.
  • Help in all aspects of the college recruiting process.
  • Establish a culture of respect among coaches, players, parents, and community.
  • Work directly with the booster club to enhance the relationship between school staff and the school community.
  • Communicate high expectations of all involved in the basketball program.
  • Create a culture and climate of academic and athletic success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
