Head Varsity Baseball Coach (VVHS)
About The Position
The Head Varsity Baseball Coach coaches student athletes in the assigned sport and organizes and supervises the overall sports program. The coach establishes and maintains good rapport with students, employees, community members, and vendors; maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality; and performs other job-related duties as assigned. The position requires a valid Arizona teacher certification, Arizona coaching certification, or NFHS Level 1 Certification. It also requires previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport, an Arizona Identity Verified Prints Fingerprint Clearance Card, First Aid/CPR certification, and completion of specified NFHS courses. Work is routinely performed outdoors, with exposure to noise, extended periods on one's feet, and inclement weather, including summer heat. The position involves medium physical work and may require exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
Requirements
- Valid Arizona teacher certification, Arizona coaching certification, or NFHS Level 1 Certification; this requirement applies to Head/Varsity positions.
- Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport.
- Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
- Complete the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course.
- Complete the NFHS online course “Concussion in Sports - What You Need to Know.”
- Knowledge of standard practices, methods, and materials of assigned work; occupational hazards and applicable safety practices; supplies and equipment; customer service principles; specialized equipment; and modern office technology.
- Skill in following directions and meeting standards, attention to detail, understanding reference books and manuals, organizing supplies, providing customer service, using computers and relevant software, and communicating and interacting effectively with others.
