About The Position

Rye Country Day School is seeking a Boys Varsity Tennis Head Coach for the spring season, February 27, 2027, through May 28, 2027. Required hours are Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with mandatory attendance on the team’s spring break trip to South Carolina, March 14–18, 2027. Candidates are encouraged, but not required, to join the middle school tennis program, which practices Monday through Friday from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. The coach will also have access to the school’s tennis courts during spring, summer, and fall to run camps, clinics, and lessons when the courts are not being used for school programming. Rye Country Day School is a coeducational, PreK–12 college preparatory school in Westchester County, New York. Requirements

At least 3 years of successful high school boys tennis coaching experience.
Passion for athletic competition and ability to motivate and inspire athletes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Commitment to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive school community.
Energetic, enthusiastic, flexible, and patient.

Nice To Haves

Participation in the middle school tennis program is encouraged but not required.

Responsibilities

Serve as Head Boys Varsity Tennis Coach for the Upper School.
Plan and organize practices and competition calendars in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and athletic staff.
Create an inclusive, exciting, and challenging environment.
Teach and coach the basic fundamentals and strategies of tennis.
Collaborate with the Director of Athletics and staff in planning and communication.
Maintain a safe environment at all times.
Communicate professionally with athletes, parents, coaches, and opponents.
Attend the team’s spring break trip to South Carolina, March 14–18, 2027.
Optionally participate in the middle school tennis program.
Run camps, clinics, and lessons on school courts when they are not being used for school programming.
