About The Position
The University of Maine at Farmington's Sweatt-Winter Childcare & Early Education Center is seeking a creative and responsive Preschool Head Teacher to lead a classroom community in a supportive, hands-on environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field required.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications required.
- Strong communication, adaptability, and classroom management skills.
- Collaborative spirit and basic tech proficiency.
- Applicants who require any visa sponsorship support cannot be considered.
Nice To Haves
- Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or a related field preferred.
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead dynamic, interactive, and age-appropriate daily activities that spark curiosity and support individual learning styles.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment using positive guidance, responsive caregiving, and anti-bias principles.
- Connect closely with families through regular updates and parent conferences, while treating every child and family with dignity and respect.
- Conduct screenings, maintain portfolio assessments, and document developmental milestones.
- Support and evaluate practicum students as they gain hands-on teaching experience in your classroom.
