About The Position

The Head Teacher - Preschool position is located in Waterbury, CT. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a Bachelor's degree with an Early Childhood Teaching Credential. The ideal candidate will have over 2 years of experience working with infants and toddlers, possess knowledge of early childhood education principles, and be familiar with Early Head Start Performance Standards, School Readiness goals, and Connecticut Early Learning and Development standards. A warm and nurturing personality is essential. Bilingual skills in Spanish/English are a plus.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Bachelor’s degree with Early Childhood Teaching Credential
2+ years working with infants and toddlers
Knowledge of early childhood education
Knowledge of Early Head Start Performance Standards, School Readiness goals and Connecticut Early Learning and Development standards
Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid
Ability to see and read newsprint with or without corrective lenses
Ability to speak and be understood under normal circumstances
Ability to occasionally lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds
Use of arms, hands, legs, and feet with or without corrective devices to accomplish the job, including evacuation of the building during emergencies
Ability to kneel, bend and sit while interacting with children at floor level
