About The Position

The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, under general direction, provides leadership and oversight for strength and conditioning operations for assigned sport programs. This position serves as a departmental leader responsible for strategic athletic performance operations, staff leadership, systems development, and cross-functional performance integration in support of departmental and competitive goals. This position is responsible for preparing student-athletes for the demands of intercollegiate competition through Comprehensive athletic performance programming and integrated training methodologies. The primary function of this position will be to manage the total athletic performance preparation of student-athletes to include, but not limited to: development of training programs; application of appropriate motivational techniques; instruction of student-athletes in the proper execution of weight training exercises, plyometrics, agility drills; communicate with appropriate coaching personnel regarding the status of the student-athletes. This position will assist with the rehabilitation of injured athletes and assist in the management of strength and conditioning facility. The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach will coordinate with the nutritionist on meals and snacks for student-athletes. Directly supervise and evaluate strength and conditioning personnel, including assigning workloads, establishing performance expectations, conducting evaluations, mentoring staff, and addressing personnel matters. Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning
  • At least five years of strength and conditioning experience at the NCAA Division I Power 4 level
  • National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) or Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) certification

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning
  • Strength and conditioning experience in the sport of basketball at the Power 4 level
  • Strength and conditioning experience in SEC basketball
  • CPR/AED certification
  • Experience in supervision of full-time, intern and/or part-time staff
