About The Position

The Head Start Teacher assures that program activities include an organized series of experiences designed to meet the individual differences and needs of each child in the program and the specific educational priorities of the local population and the community. This includes planning and leading daily Head Start lessons following Head Start standards. The Head Start Teacher assures parents will be involved and assisted in ways to foster the learning and development of their children. The Teacher will exercise case management for documentation and communication with parents about the children's health, education and social services. This position supports a team approach to teaching in one classroom with wrap around childcare before and after Head Start hours. Works with and supports the School District Early Childhood Special Education Program to provide collaborative services in the least restrictive environment while providing comprehensive Head Start services.

Requirements

  • Two years of similar or related experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year working with young children in a group setting.
  • Willing to acquire a valid CPR and First Aid Certifications within (6) months of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field or currently holds an associate's degree and is willing to acquire a Bachelor's degree in early childhood education within two years of hire.
  • Valid driver's license free of occupational restrictions.
  • Must be insurable with the Nation's insurance carrier.
