About The Position

Our mission is to provide children and youth in Arizona a safe environment, free from abuse and neglect by creating strong and successful families. Our Head Start program is ready to hire Teacher I’s to join the team in our Early Education Services Department. We are looking for compassionate, energetic, and dependable individuals that are committed to build a classroom of learning for children receiving services. In this role, you will spend most of your time providing support to the Teacher II in a fun, positive classroom setting providing a safe and secure environment for twenty children. Play will guide your day as you create an energetic classroom filled with activities that meet the needs of children’s interests and differing skills. You will encourage responsibility, independence, and problem solve through positive guidance methods. You will support classroom planning, completion of home visits and child screening. Meal times are a regular routine that allows you to help facilitate a variety of self-help skills while ensuring accurate documentation of the CACFP meal program.

Requirements

  • Preschool CDA or enrolled in a CDA or degree seeking program
  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • At least 6 months experience working with children birth – five in a group setting
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • A level one fingerprint clearance card or the ability to obtain one prior to starting
  • Pass a Central Registry Background Check, CAN State Registry Check and Criminal History Check
  • Must have valid Arizona Driver’s License and Pass an Agency driver’s Test
  • Must have clean driving record for past 5 years
  • CPR & First Aid
  • Food Handlers Card

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood or related field with a minimum of 12 credits related to infant/toddler development
  • Spanish/English bilingual capabilities preferred but not required
  • Demonstrate center’s expectations for sensitivity and competency relating to diversity and cultural awareness.
  • Speak with children in a friendly, positive, courteous manner while listening to children with attention and respect to create a positive learning environment where routines are established through trust.
  • Dedicated to contributing to a culture of kindness with children in care
