About The Position

Head Start has an opening for a full-time Teacher position working 35 hours per week. This role is responsible for preparing and implementing lesson plans for preschool children ages 3-5 in collaboration with an Assistant Teacher. Key duties include completing required developmental, behavioral, and sensory screenings, ensuring lesson plans and teaching strategies are individualized for each child (including those with IEPs), accurately utilizing curriculum and computer software, maintaining child records and documentation, participating in recruitment activities for enrollment, following all health and safety standards, and providing active supervision of all children at all times.

Requirements

• Meet Head Start and Indiana Child Care Licensing Regulations
• Meet Head Start Standards of Conduct
• Meet federal and state criminal history requirements
• Pass sex offender registry checks
• Pass drug screen
• Pass physical
• Complete an annual T.B. test

Nice To Haves

• Graduate from an accredited college or university with at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or correlated discipline
• Associate degree in a related field with knowledge of child development and experience in teaching preschool children
• Furthering education may be required to meet additional Head Start requirements
